Our Pillars

1

Academics

Through the emphasis of academics we not only empower our minds, but our future as well.

2

Community Service

In the struggle to empower ourselves, we must remember our communities and support them as they support us.

3

Collegiate/Social Networking

In stressing Hermandad, a family network is created to foster an environment of mutual respect and unity, while upholding individual interests and talents.

Active Member Status

Our active members are those Hermanas who have been able to take full advantage of all of the various components that HaU de UCD has to offer. The requirements to be considered an active member are as follows:

Academic Component:

A combination of 5 hours through organized study hall sessions/groups of 3 or more Hermanas, and 5 personal study hours, for a total of 10 academic hours each quarter. Attendance of 30 hours per academic year is required. The only hours accepted are those that have been reported and confirmed by the Academic Chair.

Community Service Component:

8 hours of community service provided by the Hermanas Unidas Community Service Chair per quarter. With a maximum of 4 hours of individual community service hours per quarter. A valid community service event requires 3 or more Hermanas to be present. Attendance of 24 hours per academic year is required. The only hours accepted are those that have been reported to and confirmed by the Community Service Chair.

Dues: Pay dues per quarter.

Pay dues each quarter. Dues are used to facilitate HaU events, activities, and supplies. By paying dues, you avoid paying for events on your own at full price or at all. There is no set amount for the cost of dues as events/activities vary each quarter. As we cater to lower-income/first-gen students, we understand if a payment plan or late payment is needed, reach out to our Treasurer for more information.

You do not need to have active membership status to be considered an Hermana. Non-active members will not be turned away. We encourage everyone to join our Hermandad in any possible manner!
